Geologists say oil reserves may double current totals, fueling prospecting lore of William Schaefermeyer born 1861 in Lexington Missouri. His family endured Civil War battles and pioneer hardship across Denver and Douglas County before settling near a dinosaur quarry. He helped Douglas County workmen on fossils for Earl Douglass and recalls a fatal rock slide near a sandstone cut. He fathered eight children and grandchildren, with many Beehive Girls preparing for a three day outing at the Brighton MIA home starting July 8.
