Winn Car Hurls Over Dugway Injury in Vernal Road Accident
Boyd Winn, son of Mr and Mrs Golden Winn of Lapoint, suffered a serious head injury when his car left a high embankment and rolled to the bottom of a dugway Friday morning June 24. The crash occurred a few miles from Lapoint on the road to Vernal. he received medical care and needed seven stitches for the head wound.

City Council Seeks Rent Decontrol in Vernal
Vernal City council at a special meeting voted to ask the governor for immediate rent decontrol. A hearing on the question was held June 20 at the county court house. Mayor Stringham said city officials were obligated to seek decontrol since no objections were heard. Landlords report vacancies, but many will remain closed to renters until decontrol takes effect.

Peace Officers Schedule Vernal Convention Triumph
Vernal city marshal Jack L. Boren won first place in a free-for-all pistol match at the 27th annual Utah Peace Officers Association convention in Logan. Attending from Uintah basin were Boren, State Trooper Sammy Hatch, and Harry Sprouse of Roosevelt. B 29 Crash Lands At Artesia Field
An air force B 29 wrecked and burned last Thursday at 1 30 p m near Artesia Colorado but all 11 aboard escaped injury during a training flight from Rapid City South Dakota to Denver Colorado The plane landed on the Artesia field when one motor caught fire and overshot the field scattering wreckage for about half a mile

The Vernal rodeo committee ruled that queen candidates must ride in street parades at least four times before the rodeo on July 14 to 16. Outside-area queens will receive horse pasture and care, and girls of any age may ride with parental consent. Spectator applause will count about one third in judging, and a pony and saddle will be given away at the final dance.
