Victor Douglas a Grand Junction Colorado man working at Rainbow mine chased a bobcat into a ledge with baling wire. He used a slip noose then whirled the cat until it suffocated by the wire. Douglas later said he did not wish to repeat the experience.

Big Attendance At Conference Enjoy Meetings
Large crowds filled Uintah stake sessions during the June quarterly conference with President Wallace Calder presiding. Bishop Wells spoke on welfare and many stake authorities and returned missionaries shared insights from Australia to the Southern States. John Wells recounted early religious experiences and temple ruins in Mexico. The Stake MIA session drew a full house, and music featured Byron Goodrich and Walter Woolley with organists Miss Thora Johnson and Archie Johnson. Special numbers included My Prayer and The King of Love My Shepherd Is. The Vernal Second Ward administered the Sacrament Sunday morning.

A large turnout approved July 1 inter school contest at Myton to select the loving cup representative. Miss Martha Lamoreaux and Evan Phillips named as U H 3 and D H Roosevelt delegates. Budget notes showed most payments received except for several bureaus. preparations for a busy program continued with plans for simultaneous events and a forthcoming program booklet. Attorney O Donnell and Dr M Garrett O Donnel were off to Lava Hot Springs for a ten day outing.

The executive voted to secure the best booklet, though financing proved heavier than anticipated, risking fewer copies and less publicity. Four Injured In Car Crash After Cow Incident Sunday
A Studebaker touring car owned by John Hatch overturned at Alf Powell corner on the Victory highway in Daviz ward. Fourteen injured included Miss Alice Kay, Miss Violet Powell, Miss Huth Goodrich, Miss Emma Olsen, Victor Allred, Dit Holmes, Bill McCarrell, Mrs Artie Wilkinson, and Mr Clarence Palmer among others. many pinned beneath the car until help arrived. The occupants were taken to town for treatment. Atwood assisted after the crash as he returned from town.

Public Health Exhibit Float Promotes Utah Tuberculosis Sanatorium
The Utah Public Health association float in the World War Vets parade on June 23 in Salt Lake showcased modern health education in schools and urged Utah residents to support a state tuberculosis sanatorium. Whittier school Modern Health Crusaders wore white capes and helmets around a large cross while posters highlighted Utah's TB toll of 11,243 deaths in five years and the lack of a state sanatorium.

Sheepherder Fined For Night Prowling in Town
John Miller a well known sheepherder in town was fined 10 in Justice Carter's court after city marshal Herman Miller arrested him for prowling at several homes. Complaints had reached the marshal, and Miller was found peeking in at a house. The man had committed similar offences at multiple locations and was later released to herd sheep in the hills.

At Uintah County School Board meeting the bids for three new or expanded schools were opened. W S Albton bid 12343 for the Tridel four room school while La Point saw a single bidder, Ashton at 5464 for the Lapoint addition. Ouray Valley bids were 6864 by Moses Moore and 6343 by Ashton.
