Tributes in the spring Pharmic Ute honor Glenn E Cooper owner of Vernal Drug Company. He trained at University of Colorado and later served in the US Navy before returning to Vernal. A three year old Maeser girl was found unharmed after an 18 hour search by 500 volunteers and police following her disappearance near Vernal.

Bridge Work Near Merkley Park Advances

County commissioners report the bridge over Dry Fork Creek into Merkley Park is nearly finished and will allow driving into the park tonight. The nearby ditch bridge is complete and in use. A creek crossing with two culverts and a new bridge is expected to be under construction soon.

Vernal Amateur Rodeo Starts Friday at Fairgrounds

Annual event brings tickets at 7:30 p m Friday and Saturday. Vernal Roping Club hosts with 50 top entries from Uintah Basin and Western Colorado. Events include saddle bronc bareback riding team roping calf roping bull riding and bull dogging. Entrance fees due by 5 pm daily with prizes ranging from 5 to 10 dollars.

National Guard to aid bulldozer work at new center

Mr. Armstrong said the National Guard will volunteer a bulldozer for preliminary earthwork. After that phase, construction progress depends largely on donations, officials said. A total of four ball parks are planned at the new center.

Utah Press Association members and spouses canoed down Green River from Pat’s Hole to Split Mountain during a one day trip. They praised the scenery aboard a Wan Watts Vernal visit featured with tours of the Utah Field House of Natural History. The expedition, publicized in weekly papers, involved 23 officials and was led by Tinteli River Expeditions from Roosevelt to Vernal areas.

Big Game Meet Set Wednesday In Duchesne

The Utah Board of Fish and Game Control schedules its annual big game meeting for Wednesday at the Duchesne County courthouse.
