Bill L Molgard 33 of 3730 East 4000 South Vernal driller died Wednesday afternoon June 15 1977 when he fell from an oil derrick at a Gulf location in the Bluebell area. He was killed instantly and had worked three weeks at Western Petroleum. Services were held June 8 at Meyers Mortuary Ogden and burial followed in Willard Cemetery. Born January 31 1944 in Brigham City Utah he was the son of Lynn Jay and Lillie Day Molgard and raised by his grandfather Laurence Molgard.
Firefighters battled a major blaze at 490 West Main damaging three businesses and an educational office with an estimated 100000 dollars in losses. Arson theories arose after a prior store fire, but officials said origin was undetermined as investigators consider new state arson rules requiring an inspector for commercial fires.

The Vintah School District and thirty UTA districts will share $6,367,880 from the U.S. Office of Education to aid federally affected areas. Duchesne District receives $122,168. districts with over 4 percent of students from government affiliated families are eligible.
State cloud seeding coordinator Paul Summers says a summer program in Uintah Basin will cost 80 000 to 100 000 dollars from July through Soph. 2 and will use Silver iodide releases by North American Weather Consultants of Santa Barbara California. The plan aims to minimize risks with expert meteorology and coordination with forecasters while consulting the Bureau of Reclamation and other agencies.
