Utah's petroleum industry in 1951 set multiple records with liquid hydrocarbons production reaching 2.5 billion barrels and refinery outputs near one and a half billion barrels of motor fuel and fuel oils. The report notes 42 producing wells averaging 798 barrels per day, with 9,400,000 barrels of new oil reserves discovered and an average well depth of 5,473 feet. Average crude price was $2.20 per barrel, and five of Utah's 28 counties produced oil. The IPAA cautions data may have discrepancies to be corrected in 1952 summaries.
