Funeral Services for Samuel Hartle of Roosevelt
Samuel Hartle of Roosevelt died suddenly from a paralytic stroke. Born in Sheffield England November 1 1870, he immigrated to Utah as a child, lived in Payson, Pleasant Grove, Salt Lake City, Vernal, and Springfield Missouri before settling in Roosevelt. He married Emily Underwood July 25 1963 and had four daughters Olive Jessie Wrenetta Margarite. He is survived by daughters Lilburn Swain Jessie Wrenetta Margarite, brothers Harry Hartle Fred Hartle Lydia, nieces Gertrude Frederickson Jane Page Sarah Caldwell. Funeral services were held at the Roosevelt hall.

The Uintah County kitchen contest drew praise from visitors including Mrs Arthur Jacobs. The event, praised by Roosevelt visitors, will be highlighted in the Duchesne County program next year. A meeting at Troose sel t on Friday featured talks by Mrs Rena Maycock, Mrs Effie Barrows, Mrs Johnson and E Peterson. Mrs Anderson led the meeting. a luncheon by Mrs Ray Dillman welcomed guests from Vernal and Logan, followed by an evening dance.

Vernal Gun Club Finishes Ponds at White Rocks Hatchery
Vernal Gun Club officials President Bus Hatch and Secretary Lawrence Carter completed work on two 60 by 80 foot rearing ponds at the Whiterocks fish hatchery. The 80,000 fish capacity ponds, filled Friday, will be kept until six to seven inch fingerlings become strong, then released to Uintah County streams and lakes. About 20 to 30 club members contributed, with materials from the state fish and game department.
