Development of Cattle Branding in Utah
Utah’s cattle branding history emerges from early settler needs and legal shifts. With pioneers unfamiliar with livestock, owners relied on brands as proof of ownership, aided by community herding and fencing policies. Utah’s first brand-recording office was established in December 1849 to curb stock disputes.

Horses To Become Important Factor In Farm Program
Wyoming agricultural extension service from the University of Wyoming says horses will play a larger role in the Foods-for-Freedom drive this summer. They will be used in field work and for hauling as car shortages rise. Experts predict a 36 percent drop in highway traffic by July and 60 percent by January 1, 1893, with horses able to handle much of the transportation and farm work. Proper conditioning and care are urged to keep horses capable for emergencies by Tony Fellhauer, livestock specialist.
