Cooking School At Uintah High Promotes Electric Kitchen Practices
Local electrical dealers sponsor a free cooking school at Uintah High on Friday and Saturday June 18 and 19. Demonstrations cover electric cooking refrigeration and small appliances with recipes shared. Attendees receive prizes including 16 food baskets an electric roaster and a grand $25 roaster. The program features demonstrations and a musical show with kitchen planning tips and center work.

Lester Chapoose dies leader of Indian activities
Funeral services were held for Lester Chapoose, longtime leader of Indian activities and chairman of the Indian committee on the U B I C executive board, at Whiterocks with Rev. Trebet officiating. He died Saturday at Fort Duchesne government hospital after a brief illness, survived by his wife and several children. A prominent Uintah Epen figure, he guided many Indian and white leaders and helped lead the annual Indian pageant at the ABIO, drawing about 20,000 spectators each year. Funeral arrangements were by Swalt Funeral Home with interment at Whiterocks.

Uintah High School to Enter Type Speed Contest in Chicago
Uintah High School will send Georgia Milburn to Chicago on June 4 to represent the rural high school in a national typewriting speed contest. Milburn, trained by Ralph Henager, head of Uintah’s Commercial department, is hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Heseger in Binuntiful and compares favorably with top students at the Business College in Salt Lake City. The effort marks Uintah’s first entry in the national event, following earlier local success by Jane Johnson two years ago.
