Strenuous Work Saves Ashley Creek Bridge
John L. MacConkle led a six day repair at the Ashley Creek Bridge on the Victory Highway. A large crew battled Sunday night through Monday to save the east pier, then extra effort kept the west pier from failing. Mr. McConkie gathered rock-filled sacks and directed work, aided mainly by Jensen men, to prevent collapse and keep heavy oil trucks crossing safely. Vernal’s delayed response drew comment, but the bridge is now protected pending further, as yet unknown, developments.

J W McKenzie aged 78 died Friday June 2 1922 at Henderson apartments after asthma dropsy heart trouble. Funeral held Sunday at Vernal second ward chapel with large crowd. interment in Vernal cemetery. Son brought him from Washington for health then planned to buy property in Ashley Valley.

Daggett County to Help Build Forest Road

They agreed Daggett County will contribute 25 percent of the road construction cost from Manila into the timber on the north side, with the forestry department bearing 75 percent. Brigham Editor Victor Madsen Dies After Illness
Victor E. Madsen editor and manager of the Boxelder News Brigham City died Saturday morning June 3 at Pearce hospital after an appendicitis operation. Born March 17 1879 he was active in church work and civic affairs. Surviving are his wife two sons his mother four brothers and two sisters.

Tourist Camp Grounds Greatly Improved
The tourist camp grounds were greatly improved by bringing water and installing electric light over the grounds. The work was done at the instance of the Commercial club auxiliary to aid visiting tourists. The auxiliary hoped to place a screened camp house with a stove for cooking and dining, but the cost proved too high for this year.
