Officials Secure Road Money for Uintah County
County commissioner Lynne Ashton and County treasurer W Henderson returned from Salt Lake City after auditing the State Road commission books. Uintah county was overcharged 4407.77 in winter 1920. the amount was withdrawn and credited to fund a new road project 10 b from Vernal flag pole to the High Line canal. The government will match funds to about 17000 more for construction. District engineer Parker to begin survey by August 1. State Road Commission personnel praised. county officers noted favorable outlook and shared road statistics.

Fire started by electric light wires after cut trees nearby ignited dry leaves. Jones, his wife, and daughter saved the machine shop, barn, and sheds with minimal damage. Vernal aid arrived swiftly with Marshal H. A Miler leading three fire engines, preventing greater loss if wind had been stronger.

Former Glines Pioneer Dies of Tick Fever
John Harmon Wardle died at Deep Creek May 26 after a two week illness of tick fever. Born June 20 1873 in Payson Utah he was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survived by his wife four children two step children his father and many siblings. Funeral at Glines ward meeting house May 28 with prayers from Levi Fierson. speakers Archie Johnson George W Perry and Bishop M M Batty. Interment in Gilneas Maeser cemetery.

Memorial day services at the Tabernacle, organized by the Legion Auxiliary and Witbeck Post American Legion, featured patriotic remarks by Judge Woolley, choir and quartet performances, and a silent tribute to local World War I veterans. Dr Harvey Hutlinger, oldest G A R veteran in Utah, was escorted to the stand. Afternoon rites covered all Uintah county cemeteries with plans to mark all veterans graves with metal markers and expand to other wars.

Uintah county officials led by Lynne Ashton and W. Sg Henderson urged the state road commission to rebalance payments on the Twist canyon section of the Fort Duchesne Vernal road. An overpayment of 4400 dollars was identified, to be reallocated to the next segment. If correct, Uintah could finance the five and a half miles to Vernal with altered cost shares and greater federal aid, though routing remains under survey and may be affected by local disputes.
