Neral services for Orson Ben Calder 40 prominent Vernal citizen and Agh Valley pioneer were held Tuesday at the Vernal Second Ward chapel with Bishop Gwen Blaugh presiding. Interment followed at Vernal Biennial Park. Speakers included William H Eidway and Wallace Ider. closing remarks by Bishop Blaugh. A mixed quartet led singing with Behold and The End. Calder's daughter in law sang Brighten The Corner Where You Are.

Henderson county chairman announces total receipts of 43445 from diverse communities for the county USO fund drive. He commends chairmen, committee members, and workers for their efforts and lists numerous contributors and volunteers across Winlatt County. (Continued on Page Fight)

Honorable mention from the time will be given to all women of OUP Community serving without pay for the Victory to Tie USO campaign. W Henderson acted as county chairman, guided by Mrs Kowena umbert, vice chairman and Frank G Slaugh secretary treasurer, who through hours of volunteer service conducted a successful drive for USO funds. Mrs Lambert and many community workers supported the effort in local and distant wards. Slaugh, at the Vornsl post office, logged donations from one cent to a lump sum and kept meeting records. Citizens pay tribute to these untiring workers for Victory.

War ration stamp No 5 which many valued for sugar lost its validity Sunday morning. Stamp No 4 remains valid for two pounds of sugar until August 7. Stamp No 7 questions the onus stamp used by officials to relieve storage problems in warehouses.
Vernal's First Marshal Galloway Buried in Roosevelt
Funeral services for John W. Galloway 78 a prominent farmer from the Hancoct Cove area near Roosevelt were held at the Roosevelt ward chapel with Horace J. Ruehle presiding. Galloway born January 15 1864 in Kainis moved from Kuinas to Vernal 1884 and to Roosevelt in 1900. He served as Vernal’s first marshal and held leadership roles in local stockgrowers irrigation and banking. Surviving are his widow and numerous children across Utah Oregon Washington and Nevada with extended family in Deseret Ogden and Roosevelt.

Forest Supervisor Zari Sanford reports three fires discovered in Ashley Forest on July 26. Two near Summit Springs Rangers Union and one toward Moon Lake were quickly suppressed. total area burned under one acre. Five caused by lightning, one by a smoker.
