Remington pled guilty to arson before Judge Abe Wei Curser. The defendant waived time for pleading and sentencing. District Prisoner William Stanley Dunford absent. state represented by a county attorney. Judge Turter set sentencing for Monday, July 6 at 4 p.m. The case stems from a May 21 fire at the Remington residence, investigated by Fire Underwriters agent S. Waugh and local officers.

Dry Fork men struck by lightning in cottonwood shelter
In Dry Fork a freak electrical storm Saturday around 4 30 pm struck Klyrum Burgess 45 and his son David 16 while shielding under a cottonwood tree. Both were knocked unconscious. the dog was killed. Burgess suffered severe burns and other injuries. David and Mrs Burgess aided, neighbors helped, they were taken to Fawn Hospital in Vernal.

Tridel Matron Honored On 80th Anniversary Day
Harriett Ann Morrill of Tridel celebrated her eightieth birthday with family at her home. Born June 25, 1862 in Spring Held Ohio she moved to Utah as a child and married Mor rill of Junction Utah in 1884. Seven of nine children survive with spouses present along with 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. An entertaining program by grandchildren and a luncheon followed.

Gasoline Fumes Claim Life of Vernal Child
Five year old Ford D. Lyman, son of Mr and Mrs Oscar Lyman, died after entering a Bay gas tank truck in a Vernal garage. He apparently climbed onto the tank top and opened an eight inch dome, inhaling fumes. Found by his brother about 45 minutes later, death was near instantaneous. The truck had been parked since six o clock. Grandparents Mr and Mrs A M Lyman and other relatives searched frantically. A doctor said death occurred about three hours earlier. Washington received word from Wash- Inglam via J Ray Melfec chair of the Cintab County Commission that Congressman Walter K Granger secured support for the Whiteirocan Irrigation Company loan of 71400 for the Chi Pete reservoir development. Granger said the Regional Director in San Francisco is considering the request and the application has left there. The Water Facilities program shifts to Farm Security Administration funding from July 1 as noted by Harry K Woodsrd. The Conservation Service reports 11 well investigations with 14 approved for drilling, and five loans have been processed by the Farm Security Administration with more pending.

G W W Bud Mathis assistant district grazier fought a 20 acre range fire on the East Side of the Mountain 15 miles northwest of Vernal. He battled flames for more than 12 hours extinguishing the last embers by 8:00 am Tuesday. He urged campers to obtain permits before lighting fires as grazing grounds are restricted since June first with penalties for violations.

County youths sign registration in fifth draft roll
Cherles Caldwell secretary of the draft board reports that 182 youths aged 18 to 20 registered Tuesday in Uintah County in the fifth registration for elective service. Registration sites were Bon Fort Duchesne and Chishire creeks. Caldwell says many registrants will be sent from outward points where youths are working. he expects 70 or 30 of such registrations.
