Congress backs Upper Colorado storage project Likely Senate passage
Congress considered reclamation construction for the Upper Colorado storage fund included in a budget presented Monday. The Senate Interior Committee shows strong support with thirteen of fifteen Western members backing the irrigation and reclamation subcommittee chair, Sen Anderson. In the House Interior Committee, most members previously voted for the bill, leaving only two new votes needed to clear the 25-member panel as some members depart. Several Republicans and Democrats who opposed last year remain, while others have moved on to other assignments.
