Modern Heating Blaze Strikes Local Shop Damaging Inventory
Fire swept through a three room shop at 70 West Bridie causing extensive damage estimated at around 400 dollars. Glen Knight owner was present with two workers and the owners son Jimmy. Vernal Fire Department responded and confined the blaze to one section. The loss included furnaces ranges heaters air conditioners and related merchandise and wiring. Firefighters used city and county rigs plus extra water to control the flames.

Hunters Bag Mountain Lion in Dry Fork Canyon Friday
A 188 pound mountain lion was killed near Browmes Canyon in Dry Fork by Vernal hunters Friday morning. Ernest Caldwell and Bryce Caldwell spotted tracks at 845 am, calling for help. George Nay and others joined with dogs. the cat tangled in a tree before being dislodged and killed. Nay, a veteran trapper, has now killed ten mountain lions this winter in the Uintah Basin, bringing his career total to 165.

Funeral Services Conducted for Elva Co. Moon
Funeral services for Elva Cordelia Moon 51 were held at United Stoke Center with Dr J Franklin Robinson officiating. Moon died by hanging at her residence and was born May 2 1902 in Edgemont moving to Uintah County in 1913. Survivors include her husband W Ervin Moon six brothers and four sisters. The service featured hymns sung by Mra Francke and others and included Rebekah Lodge memorials at Fruit Memorial Park Cemetery.
