Reese M Reese Will Run For State Auditor

Teese MT Teese announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination of state auditor. Former Carbett County treasurer, he was elected state auditor in 1940 and state treasurer in 1944. Born Wales Sanpete County November 3, 1895, he studied at Snow College and the University of Utah then Bevlan School of Commerce in Chicago. He moved to Carbon County in 1915, taught school, and worked for various firms. Member of the Jackson Democratic League Sagebrush Democratic Club and life member of the Young Democratic Club.

Granger Outlines Vernal Airport Improvements

Congressmen Granger reports that the Civil Aeronautics Administration will upgrade Vernal airport to class I-2 status over three years. Planned work includes runway extensions to 3700 4700 feet, Weather Bureau facilities, two way radio, visual traffic control, and taxiway apron construction, with about half funded by the federal government and the rest by Utah Uintah County Vernal City.

Seminary Declaration Meet at Vernal First Ward Sunday

Sunday evening finals of the Vernal Seminary declaration contest feature six finalists from the semi finals held last week. Joy MeLesn Delrayeth Bryce Caldwell Dan Fullmer and Merlene Davis compete for top honors with a triple combination set from The Book of Mormon Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. Judges include Mrs Alto Gardner, Joseph Winder, and Brian Onell.

Mrs. Collins Dies at Uintah County Hospital

Mrs Thesa Viola Dean Colling 54 of Borgaza died Tuesday afternoon at Uintah County Hospital after a lingering illness. Funeral services set for Friday at 2 30 p m at Vernal Second Ward Chapel. Survived by son daughter, husband Elmer R Collins, and other relatives. She was born Sangor Oregon January 35 1893 and moved frequently before settling in Uintah County in 1925. She joined the Latter Day Saints church and was active in the community.

Jaycees Name Candidates For 1948 Officers

Funeral services for Mrs Almira Duke Harrison 82 who died February 13 at her home in Vernal were held Wednesday at the Vernal First Ward Chapel with Euhep Ross Merrell Naples Ward presiding. Burial in Vernal Memorial Cemetery followed a long LDS life with surviving children and relatives listed.

Dance Friday Canes Fund Drive Sparks Community Effort
