Snow and Wind Storm Closes Roads in Wanita County
A severe snow and wind storm hit Wanita County last weekend. Roads were blocked by deep drifts, traffic halted, and families stranded. The storm caused two worker deaths when their car crashed 24 miles east of Jenson at 6 55 am Sunday and disrupted schooling and services across the region.

Community Council Formed By Vernal Groups In 18 to 4 Vote
Civic, church and social representatives in Vernal approved forming a community coordinating council for Ashley Valley by an 18 to 4 vote at the Central School Library. A five member nominating committee will select eighteen board candidates for elections March 14, with nine directors to be chosen for one, two and three year terms.

Bus Driver Charged In Two Deaths After Snow Storm Crash
A Utah bus driver faces involuntary manslaughter charges after a 1960 sedan carrying oil workers collided with a Denver Salt Lake Pacific Stage bus near Jensen. Two oil workers died and four were injured. The bus driver, Frank J. Terry of Salt Lake City, claimed to have attempted to pass a parked tanker on a snow blocked highway.

The Uintah Stake LDS quarterly conference will run Saturday and Sunday March 5 and 6. A welfare representative will join late with pre sessions starting 6 30 p m at the Uintah Stake Center. A Melchizedek Priesthood meeting follows at 8 p m with invitations extended to church leadership and ward committees.
