Vernal Express Dominates Weekly Contests And Closings News

The Vernal Express won two first places and three other awards in Utah weekly and semi weekly contests announced at the Utah State Press Association Convention in Salt Lake City. First place honors included the Harrison K. Merrill Front Page Contest for the Young University Journalism Department and a best front page prize. Other winners listed include Springville Herald and Tremonton Leader among several papers. classifications cover Class A and B with multiple second and first places for general excellence and news stories. Local Vernal merchants will close on Washingtons Birthday February 22 and on several major holidays throughout the year as declared by the Vernal Chamber of Commerce.

Firemen's Ball Set For Vernal Saturday Night

The Vernal Volunteer Fire Department hosts its annual Fireman's Ball this Saturday at Imperial Wall starting 9:30 p.m. Music by the Diamond Mountain Ranch. World Day of Prayer Observed at St Pauls Church

Lions Minstrel Weekend Show Planned at Union School

Vernal Tour Highlights Escalante Ranch Visit and Farm Needs

A Vernal caravan toured Dry Fork and Escalante ranch along Green River visiting Jensen and Piltchel’s operations. Managers Darcy Brown and partners showcased 1700 acre cattle facilities with 187 Hereford calves fed in multiple barns and corrals. Water from Green River and wells sustains the herd as bulls and dairy cattle at neighboring farms are observed for growth and breeding traits.
