Ice Damage Repaired at Linwood Bridge
Temporary repair on the Linwood bridge over the Green River between Manila and Dutch John finished Wednesday night, allowing schoolchildren to resume crossing. ARCH DAM Construction Company installed steel and derived piles to protect the structure, which will be abandoned when the reservoir fills. Traffic to Vernal was briefly disrupted but restored, and reports of Dutch John being completely marooned were denied.

Robbers Shoot Bridgel and Man At Closed Store
Bridgel and grocery store owner Elden Brady was shot twice while resisting two masked bandits outside his store near Roosevelt Hospital. He suffered a left arm and left chest wound and remained in serious condition Wednesday morning after Tuesday night attack.

County Urged To Adopt Extra Ya% Sales Tax
Vernal Chamber of Commerce retail merchants committee voted to urge United County to exercise the option for an additional 1.4% sales tax. Agreement Reached On Utah Power Lines
The federal government will not build a power transmission line for now. A $77 million fund will back the Central Jet Project and other water development units as a compromise on the Upper Colorado River transmission dispute.
