Wallace Wintch of Monti Utah, president of Utah Woolgrowers Assn, said the sheep business is the oldest in the world and will be 100 years from now. The convention at Hotel Vernal heard of $15 million in U S incentive payments last year, with $260,000 to Uintah and Duchesne counties. Alden K. Barton, Utah State Commissioner of Agriculture, discussed the meat market and said housewives want lean fat and more meat. Officers reelected were Clifton W. Bert Dannenberg former Los Angeles leader is appointed District Scout Executive in Uintah Basin replacing Jerry B Anderson. Dannenberg, an Engmie Scout with Woodbadge training, served eight years with the Los Angeles Area Council and is a Weber native who joined Boy Scout work after moving from California. He was a Navy radioman in World War I and served in the California National Guard Reserve as a warrant officer.

Fast Thaw Triggers Record Flooding in Vernal Area
Flooding described as the worst in a lifetime followed a rapid thaw, rainstorms, and a cold snap. Jensen Bridge on the Green River saw ice jams and huge floes breaking apart, sweeping away a $1500 irrigation pump and damaging fences and dikes. Rescue crews saved about 65 head of sheep near Stewart Lake while other livestock were lost or displaced.
