Funeral services for Mia Cora Johnson, 78, were held Sunday at the Vernal Second Ward chapel. Bishop Hyrum Calder conducted. over 600 mourners attended. Pioneers and family spoke of her kindness, faith, and lifelong service, with interment at Vernal Cemetery.
Taxpayers association in Uintah County holds a meeting at the Second Ward chapel to discuss tax problems and the need for an organized movement. State officials and local leaders will address budgeting, public auditing, legislative needs, and methods to engage qualified draftsmen for public service.
Funeral services for Alfred Nelson Billings Uintah Basin pioneer were held Friday in the Glines ward chapel. He died February 10 at his home. Bishop John Eaton led the service with remarks by Joseph A McKee Archie Richardson and Ernest Eaton. The Vernal cemetery grave was dedicated by Bishop Thomas Caldwell. He is survived by brothers and sisters, with relatives in Provo Jensen and Los Angeles.
M P Brown president of the Utah State Farm Bureau urged Uintah County farmers to unite in cooperative effort. He cited successes in cooperative marketing for sugar beets dairy products and poultry and urged immediate formation of local cooperatives to secure better prices for farm products.
Miss Violet inward clerk at the Vernal Drug company and Mr. Jennie Angus Feltch made a trip to Roosevelt Saturday and spent the day away from work.
Tridell correspondent reports Mrs James Hamblin, 72, native of Ireland, died Feb 11 at Whiterocks Beach from general debility after influenza. Burial in Myton Utah under the Greek Orthodox or Syrhodist church rites. Survived by father, mother, four sons. two sons, James Jr and Jamies, with her. others in Arizona and California.
Huntington Junior Commercial club from Huntington arrived in Vernal with fifteen straight wins but fell 15 13 in the first game and 44 16 in the second to Uintah High School's fast five. First team played partial games. Hartington lineup included L Young LE Rowley R Johnson Rh Leonard E Johnson DeFreeze L Tru man Coach G R Johnson. Visiting officials Neal Rochey Juin Cavalli J L Holt. The team plans further games vs Green River and Moab.
