A N Billings Pioneer Dies in Glines Ward Home
A N Billings pioneer and Uintah Basin settler died at his Glines Ward home on February 8 after a long illness from a paralytic stroke and complications. Born November 22, 1852 in Mand Utah, he moved to Frova, then Jensen, and later Vernal where he served as bishop assistant and justice of the peace, earning a reputation for fairness. Surviving are widow Alice, three sons Everett Sidon Cecil, and three daughters Erma Collett Lovelia Smith and Tira Ona Woolley. The funeral was held in Glines Ward Chapel with interment in the Vernal Cemetery.

Uintah Club Organizes to Promote Uintah Basin Empire
More than forty former Uintah residents gathered at the Uintah school in Salt Lake City for an informal session to form a permanent organization to foster Uintah Basin interests. Dr Earl Douglass highlighted Jensen fossil discoveries and the Uintah quarry as a major tourist draw and noted vast mineral wealth including potash. The group endorsed sending a resolution to congressional delegations urging rapid Dinosaur National Monument development and supported the Salt Lake and Denver railroad to aid region growth.

Aunt Cora Johnson Called To The Great Beyond
After a two week illness Aunt Cora Johnson died February 10 at her son Snellen Johnsons home. Born October 26 1844 in Bolton New York she lived with Mormon pioneers then moved to Utah Idaho and finally Maeser Bernal. She was postmistress for eight years and mother of eleven children.

Funeral services were held in Glimes ward chapel for Wilda Tield who died January 28. Speeches and songs honored her memory as family and friends gathered, with a procession around the casket and performances by the Sunday school and Ree Hive class. She was survived by one sister and several nieces and nephews.
