Vernal Club Aims to Grow Membership to One Hundred

The Vernal Commercial club membership committee led by C B Gook aims to raise club membership to 100 within the next month with help from all members. George E B Adams returned from Salt Lake City where he shopped for spring and summer goods and spoke highly of Vernal in Salt Lake papers. Inaugural ball invitations went to Vernal residents for February 1% in Utah to honor Governor Spry. Snow depth in Utah recently reached eighteen inches. Utah Power and Light plans work soon. Quarterly Conference Attended at Vernal Sessions

The Vernal quarterly conference drew a strong attendance despite Hyrum B Calder’s absence due to state senate duties. Archie Johnson led sessions at the Mormon church convention, with talks by Clinton Peterson Ada Viinder and many others. Music by the stake choir and Naples ward quartet highlighted the event as a spiritual gathering focused on duty faith and organization.

District Court Court Session Hears Law and Motion and Divorces

The district court special term convened February 3 at 2pm with many law and motion and default cases. Interlocutory decrees granted include Florence Winst Avery and custody of Aloah J Jensen. Boxing Bout at U H S to Aid Pioneer Family

First Annual Fireman's Ball Brightens Imperial Hall

Abram Coon Dies at Sister's Home in Vernal Utah

Abram Coon born in Coalville Utah September 16 1865 died at his sister Mrs He Ruple's home February 11 from cardiac decomposition. He suffered rheumatism for months after moving to Ashley Valley in 1877 and was among Utah's early settlers. Funeral services by Witbeck in Vernal First Ward Chapel Thursday at 1 pm with Bishop Pontha Cader in charge.

Senate Bill Proposes Jensen to Dinosaur State Road

A bill introduced in the senate by Senators Jeffer son and Bowman designates Jensen north to the Dinosaur National Monument as a secondary state highway funded by a gasoline tax set aside for this purpose. A companion bill in the house adds 22 similar road designations, including Neola to Altonah in Lucheste County, with committee review slated.

Uintah School Board reappoints Olson as superintendent for term

At a regular Uintah school board meeting all members present approved continuing Superintendent H B Olson for another term. The board held in abeyance the decision on Mrs Stevenson as clerk though she was endorsed. Rainbow and native trout planted in Daggett County in 1932

The U S Bureau of Fisheries and Ashley National Forest distributed thousands of trout from Saratoga Wyoming to Daggett County in 1932. 24000 rainbow 27000 native and 1000 eastern brook trout were released into Carter Creek Sheep Creek and their tributaries, with rainbows thriving at Tamarach Lake.

Maeser Infant Fualral Services Held

Funeral services were held Saturday at the home of Harvey McKee for the infant son of Mr and Mrs Harold McKee who died February 1 from heart trouble. W E Bodily directed the services with a quartet singing Forbid Them Not Shine On and Beautiful Words of Love. John L McConkie spoke consolation and Richard Homer delivered the benediction. The child, McKee, was born January 17 and is survived by his parents and two brothers Billy and Roy.
