Three Auto Accidents On Slick Highway 40 Near Vernal
On Christmas Eve three crashes occurred within minutes on the slick U S Highway 40 stretch eight miles west of Vernal where the new highway meets the old road. The second crash followed closely as Maryin M Slade 52 Vernal, in a 1957 International truck owned by Philip W Martin Oil Field Service, skidded off the left side after attempting to slow for the prior wreck. Bennett Urges Tax Credit For Students
Senator Bennett and Senator Ribicoff propose a tax credit in the 89th Congress. The plan would allow an income tax credit on the first $1,500 of tuition fees books and supplies for a student at a higher education institution. It aims as a tax measure not a substitute for aid and would cover payments made by taxpayers for dependents or themselves. The proposal seeks to encourage college education as an investment comparable to capital investment in plants and equipment.
