Vernal road finish urged to cut danger and create work
At a special Uintah County Commission session the plan was to ask the State Road Commission to finish U 840 west of Vernal to the Big Line Canal. A meeting with city officials and the Vernal Lions Club is set for Tuesday with the state road group to push for immediate surveys and early spring contracts. The project would remove four dangerous curves, including Reader corner, where several fatal and near fatal crashes occurred last summer. Governors and officials previously assured paving with native rock asphalt, and the group seeks funding and start dates to employ locals and reduce unemployment.
