Rhodes Award Goes To Brother Of Mrs Lundell
Edward Hart, a 32 year old University of Utah senior and brother of HLM Lundell of Vernewant, was chosen in San Francisco as one of four students in the Pacific Southwest region to win a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford. Hart, son of Mr and Mrs Alfred A Hart of Bloomington Idaho, studied economics and English and had an average near A. He is known as a campus poet and captained the 1939 attack team in track. Other winners included Herbert B Woolley, 22, son of Mr and Mrs Herbert E Woolley of Washington DC, a former resident of Salt Lake City, Ogden and Logan.

Fire destroys home of Davia widow in Davis ward
Mrs Fila Slaugh, a 60 year old widow, lost her Davis ward residence to an early Friday fire. Neighbors fought to save the building while a bucket brigade helped shelter a nearby hotel. Much furniture and goods were saved but the home sustained over $2000 in damage.

Utah women organized under the Utah Federation of Women’s Clubs plan a statewide conservation effort.
