Bishop Ib O Colton conducted a burial for Frederick A Gleadort, a 20 year old husband and father of a six month old child, who died of flux in Randlett. His wife and her brother and their spouses were ill. The body lay in the house three days before burial at Roosevelt, with car headlamps used for the last rites.
December 6 school board contest re-elected Bishop A G Goodrich and C Bb Bartlett and elected Tom Murray with Goodrich's district the result of a broad victory. Murray defeated incumbent W H Oakes. Bartlett carried two districts. influenza touches local officials Genevieve K Wallin ill but improving in Rexburg. sugar restrictions lifted nationwide though per person quota remains four pounds monthly. Doctor Myers, visiting Vernal, plans week or ten days stay before returning to Spokane for Christmas.
Emergency hospital reports ten current patients with nineteen discharged since opening. Superintendent W M Anderson praises care from nurses Mrs Dan R Smith and Mrs Horton and notes policy that patients pay standard rates if able. Volunteers including Dr W Tolhurst and Miss Stella Richards contribute, with meals prepared by Maud Sorensen and Edith Johnson.
In a blunt recruitment style ad a National Casualty Co representative urges immediate insurance to guard against sickness and accident. It stresses prompt claims payments and warns against delaying coverage during flu season.
The notice lists delinquent parcels and owners including Walter and James Richardson with amounts owed for 1916 taxes. It warns that unless taxes plus 3 percent penalty are paid by December 16 1918 the property will be sold at the Uintah County Courthouse Vernal Utah at 10am by order of the County Board.
