Utah Idaho and Montana forward exhibits to the International Hay and Grain Show in Chicago running November 27 to December 4. Utah will send eighty samples led by professors Hogengen and Smith with a joint alfalfa exhibit. Idaho contributes 113 samples.

Snow Clamps Basins West Route Delays Hit by Snow

Heavy snowfall stranded mail on the Basin West road route Friday and Saturday. Indian Canyon Summit at 9100 feet saw snow drifts and 18 inches depth with winds piling snow. State crews with tractors cleared the Strawberry Summit road by Monday, restoring passage and reducing further delays unless thaw triggers mud.

Salt Lake State Road Engineer Ira Browning Dies

Ira R Browning veteran state road engineer of Utah died at his Salt Lake home on November 17 after a week long illness pneumonia. native of Virginia he came to Utah thirty years ago and shaped the state road program serving in legislature and on the road commission. Funeral to be attended by relatives including Mrs Beebe of Vernal and Miss Beebe of Salt Lake City.

Mrs C P Hale Dies in Manila After Illness

Mra C P Hale aged 32 of Manila died at Rock Springs Wye hospital after a four day illness. The immediate cause was peritonitis. A native of Sidney Nebraska, she had resided in Manila for four years and is survived by four children.

Vernal Student Merkle y Places Third in BYU Cross Country

Charles Merkley of Vernal finished third in the annual cross country run at Brigham Young University Provo on November 24, among ten distance men from the state. The report notes Merkley improved to fifth place in a weaker field last year and predicts he could be a valuable University track team member with more training.

Former Lapoint Resident Dies in California Home

Lapoint correspondent reports Adolph Hohine, formerly of Lapoint, died suddenly at a home in Lodi, California after years of poor health. He was born in Germany, came to America in 1890, lived in Vernal, worked as a carpenter and helped build local facilities, and later returned from a mission to Germany with his wife and two children surviving him. Mia Taylor, sister, hurried to California to arrange funeral and burial.

Ashley Forest Road Work Discontinued For the Season

Ashley Forest road construction in the Ashley National Forest ends after five months. Eight miles on Mosby Mountain plus two miles below Greendale and four miles between Brush Creek and the Vernal Manila line have been built in cooperation with the Whiterocks Irrigation Co. All Uintah mountains forest highway units are finished. Summit Vernal Manila work under Bureau of Public Roads halted for season. about four miles of Little Brush Creek unit near completion. Next year aims to finish the Vernal Manila area project.

An asphalted 54 by 20 foot rear addition to the federal buildings under construction facilitates heavy rail truck movement. Sod from the new pavement was transplanted to church grounds. The Randelltt boys club won the county championship display at the Randlett District event on September 11 and received a pure bred Duroc Jersey pig presented by Wong Sing, a Fort Duchesne pioneer. Infant Son Dies. Thanksgiving Services Held

The infant son of BE P Gray of Verna died November 23 after pneumonia. Funeral services were conducted at the parents' home on Thanksgiving day with A Cramer officiating. James Winner gave the invocation and Ernest Eaton and John N Davis spoke. A quartet sang two hymns, and the child was buried in Vernal cemetery. Survived by his parents two sisters and a brother.

Vernal Youth Hurt in Auto Crash Near Central School

Seven year old Josep Peterson son of Mr and Mrs E Peterson was seriously injured Sunday evening at 4 o clock when struck by a car driven by George Wilking just south of the Central school. He suffered a fracture of the right leg between knee and ankle an eye injury and a cut on the lower lip. He remains in bed for several weeks as doctors report gradual recovery and the driver acted to avoid the collision.

E A Manker Vernal real estate man announces Sauute Sheep Company purchases William C T Male ranch near Oak Creek eight miles west on upper Trout Creek. Mary Charlotte Gray, 16 year old daughter of Samuel J and Maude Gray, died after a ten week illness in Herrin Illinois. Funeral services were held at Maeser ward chapel with a large turnout and floral tributes. In the Uinta district election three board seats were filled with A G Goodrich winning 148 votes, Alfred Bimper 113, and George W Perry 114, while William Murrill was elected marshall. The new board will take office January 1927 and include Siddoway, Cohen, Goodrich, Perry, and Marshall.

Davis Ward resident injured in plow accident

George Southam a farmer in Davis ward was injured when a plow upset while crossing a ditch. A team of six colts caused the accident, and Southam was carried to his mother in law Mrs Hattie Willis's home. Recovery is expected in six weeks to two months, delaying his farming activities.

Mr and Mrs F A Gross formerly of Fort Duchesne report they are settled at Tulalip Indian Agency in northern Washington. They praise the agency's splendid public buildings electric lights cement sidewalks water and sewerage. They note Marys Villa and Everett nearby with rail and steamship access and say sunny days prevail on Puget Sound this fall while about 3900 Indians fall under Mr Gross’s jurisdiction.
