Mrs Francke will report on the PEO Supreme Convention and stay with her sister Mrs Cartright. Mrs Preston Voorhies returned from a three week visit with relatives in Estevan Canada. William C Wilson has recovered and returned to work.
In observance of Safe Driving Day Kiwanis club of Vernal will hear a Utah State Highway Patrol representative from Salt Lake as guest speaker. Leroy Smith chairs the safety committee and directs the program.
Local post office tallies letters received from children, with families urged to include return addresses. Santa letters describe wish lists from households citywide, as volunteers prepare responses and coordinated charity drives to fulfill wishes.

The Maeser 2nd Ward bishopric was reorganized with Alton Vernon leaving his post as a former fret counlor and Mr Vernon taking an Oxden surveyor role for the Caren of Rec lamation on the Weber project. Attner Jenkins becomes first counselor and Roland Lowers Merkley is appointed him key and counselor. West 9 vacancy for YMMIA superintendent filled by Henry Allan Mansfield with new counselors Wayne Toberta and Carl Catlett and Thad Stringham as secretary.
Lyman Merkley was appointed the new second counselor in Vernal Second Ward bishopric on Sunday. Merkley replaces Glen T Walker who was named coordinator of the welfare region, while the former coordinator A Theodore Johnson now engages in temple work in Salt Lake City.
News from Honolulu reports the birth of Linnette Kathleen, first child of Sgt. and Mrs. Marion R. Barlow, born November 15 at Tripler Army Hospital. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Francke of Newport Beach, California. Eugene Francke is Dr. Francke’s son, formerly of Vernal.
A Wednesday night mass meeting at Maeser school elected Kenneth McLean to the Town Board replacing Le Hay Corral. Morgan Morkley was reelected. Plans to improve the road from Maeser store to the next corner and explore a water storage tank were discussed.
Thanksgiving weekend in Las Vegas Nevada brought Harold and Sargent family members to visit Mrs Ellen Sargent Nia Slater and family. Nelson Marechad Waley from Edwards Air Force Base joined, with Mra Holmeurst JofL visiting Vernal three weeks prior and staying for the holiday. In Nebraska Wm Keebler and grandchildren Julie and Kristie hosted at their home, while Feltch-Farnsworths arranged street widening and water system upgrades to support growth.
A Salt Lake City family joined Mr. and Mrs Lam William for Thanksgiving. Mrs Elva Shields attended with her daughter and son in law Dale Hayes and granddaughter Dalene, returning Sunday. The Hayeses stayed with Mr. and Mrs Von Haslem. Mr Hayes studies dentistry at the University of Utah and Mrs Hayes works for Utah Power and Light in Salt Lake City.
Thanksgiving guests at the home of Bo and Mrs Harold E Mullinger were Mr and Mrs Don Hullinger of Salt Lake City and Floyd Hullinger of Provo.
Wilford Farley of Provo visited November 23 to spend Thanksgiving with Mr and Mrs Glade Sowards. He is Mrs Sowards’ brother. The visit concluded with a Sunday return.
