Teachers Institute Program Set for September 7 and 8
An institute for county teachers organized by H. B. Olson is scheduled for Friday and Saturday September 7 and 8 at the second ward chapel. State inspector I. L. Williamson and state supervisor Miss Matilda Peterson will attend along with other speakers. The program spans morning and afternoon sessions with singing, talks by visitors, and departmental work, concluding with a social dance on Saturday.

About 45 taxpayers gathered in Vernal at a Vernal Chamber of Commerce meeting to discuss Project 16 B a federal aid road from Vernal to Whit. Mayor Walter G Barnes chaired and noted the 2 percent low bid exceeded state estimates by 16609, with Uintah county needing to cover 26 percent plus their prior contributions while the federal government would cover 74 percent. Speakers argued for county approval of additional funds to secure federal aid and have the project let this fall.

Irvin and Bailey Doss found Fred P Barker dead on the back porch of his Horace Coltharp ranch home east of town. Sheriffs and a county physician ruled natural causes. the elderly man lived alone, mentored by a request to move to a warmer climate for heart trouble. A sister in Fort Collins was located by telegrams. other relations were unclear. Funeral arrangements were handled by Mr Coltharp with a Thursday service.

County Fair to Spotlight Community Booths and Interdivision Contest
The Uintah County Fair will inaugurate a countywide display feature with each community presenting its products in its own booth. Divisions Eastern and Western will compete for first through third prizes and for a grand champion trophy, based on points from both exhibits and daily sports events.

Vernal Bride Dies as Auto Crash Kills Wife and Child
A Vernal man EB H Adair, newly wed to his former wife, was injured in a canyon wreck near Heber City. His wife and a 9 year old daughter were killed, while two other children survived. Adair and others were hospitalized. Bodies to be brought to Vernal for burial. Granville Adair serves at Fort Douglas.

Vernal Gun and Rifle club members and state fish and game officials cooperated to plant native trout hatched at White Rocks hatchery into Ashley and Brush creeks in Uintah county. Deputies and rangers assisted, with 100,000 Rainbow trout remaining at the hatchery for Utah streams. The club plans pheasant releases and aims to boost hunting and fishing in the Uintah Basin, hoping membership doubles next year.

Tine Nichols, 67, who was injured two weeks ago at the Home of Will am Murray in Maecser when he fell from an apricot tree while picking fruit, died Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services will be held in Mauser ward chapel today at 10 a.m. with Bishop Sylvanus Collett presiding.
