Prof Douglass Finds Important New Fossils Near Jensen
Professor Earl Douglass returning from a 11 year Carnegie Institute project reports three significant fossil discoveries in the Brown s Park formation south of Sunbeam Colorado. The finds include a small mammal precusor carnivores and a ruminant tooth with possible Miocene age. LeRoy Kay accompanied Douglass on the expedition with plans to explore Powder Springs and White River areas next.

80 Barrel Well Brings In Sunday At 468 Feet
The Raven Ol and Refining company brought in an 80 barrel well at 468 feet in the paneer ly oil field on Sunday. A. A. Brigman, president, noted the high test quality. The company reports six wells pumping 356 barrels daily, comparing with a rival refinery's 88 wells at 10087 barrels capacity. Three weeks earlier Bayer Old and Refining company sought a small producer with wells capable of 16 to 126 barrels per day.

Harding Estate Worth About 750000 in Will for Mrs. Harding
Washington Aug 12 The late President Harding’s estate is valued at about 750000 dollars with most going to his widow Mrs Florence Kling Harding. He prepared a new will before leaving Washington for Alaska and arranged affairs to ease widow’s position if he did not return alive. The will will be filed in Marion Ohio likely next week and probated in the old courthouse there. The document details an estate of about 750000 with several minor bequests.

A. A. Hardy of Ashley National Forest reports Taylor Mountain road work toward Trout Creek Park progressing with an August 20 completion target. The Red Pine Setting to Trout Creek segment will improve notably. the Vernal Gun and Rifle Club contributed about 150 to construction. Helpers from the Fathers and Sons outing aided by clearing rock from the road bed.

Aged Mother Mary A Caldwell laid to rest in Vernal
Funeral services were held for Mary A Caldwell wife of Thomas J Caldwell Jr at the Macfar ward house. Bishop Sylvanus Collett presided with speakers including James M Shaffer Eliia J Ells Don B Dalton and R B Collett. Interment followed in Vernal cemetery with grave dedication by Bishop Collett. Death occurred August 9 after a lingering illness. born October 16 1847 in Denmark she came to Utah in 1853 with her parents joining the LDS church.

Harry Wilbur Cooper editor of the Price News-Advocate died at the paper’s home in Price at noon on August 13 after years of poor health. Born December 14 1878 in Beaver Pennsylvania he grew up in Winterset Iowa and graduated from Parsons College. He later moved to Denver then Price becoming managing editor about eight years ago. He married Grace A Avery and served as Methodist church trustee and Chamber of Commerce member. A brief service was held at the family residence led by Rev J Preclin Johnson.

Immense Crowd at First Day of Uintah Basin Convention

The Ashley Valley pioneers and descendants marked the semi centennial of settlement from 1873 with a Pioneer celebration at the Orpheus. Over 360 pioneers plus first generation children and elders attended a feast and program featuring addresses, music, dances, readings, and performances.

Mulville Injures Arm In Vehicle Crash
Last week J C Mulville chief engineer for the Salt Lake and Denver railroad and O J Grimes state board of equalization member and Tribune correspondent were in a car descending a steep grade near Tabeaia when it tumbled over an embankment. Mulville suffered a broken arm above the wrist and later went to Salt Lake City after medical care in Duchesne. Grimes sustained only minor scratches.
