Moffat Road Tour Highlights Vernal Prospects

General Manager W A Devel and Chief Engineer H A Sumner visited Vernal to inspect the 126 mile Denver to Kremling segment and plan onward progress toward Steamboat Springs. They praised Ashley Valley, discussed blueprints with Uintah Abstract, and noted the road’s potential to open Northeastern Utah with a shorter Denver Salt Lake link and major agricultural and mining development.

Consolidated Lumber Company to Boost Output in Reserve Region

Articles filed August 10 establish Consolidated Lumber with Alma Johnson as president and a 25,000 share capital. Two mills are operating and a third will start soon, with daily output around 35,000 feet and plans for a Roosevelt yard to serve reservation customers. The firm owns 1,000,000 feet of timber on Brush Creek Mountain and expands transport via a three mile tramway. Death of Ralph Hacking After Drowning at Vernal

Ralph Hacking, 13, died after drowning in an unnamed pond near Vernal, about 6 p.m. Sunday. He fought to surface eight times and crawled along the bottom for about thirty feet before succumbing. The tragedy occurred near Deep Creek when Hacking, visiting Johnson's house with Irvin Gerber, left to work on his ranch earlier Friday. The community remains in mourning.

Uintah Stake of Zion to Dedicate New Tabernacle

The 81st quarterly Uintah Stake conference will be held August 24–25 1907 in the new Stake Tabernacle built at about $30 000. Visitors from Salt Lake City expected. Strawberry settlers plan school on government site near Theodore

Residents from Theodore to Blackburn's ranch met at Blackburn's to discuss education. Government reserved a two acre corner site at Wint Rasmussen's homestead for a new school. A three member committee was appointed to arrange and proceed with the project.

London water supply would flood oceans if diverted

Tit Bits estimates show London’s annual consumption for 850 acres at 325 ft high and a canal 2400 miles long would need all world warships to ride the banks. A 100 foot canal across Duro would rise water ten feet. London residents would each use 60 gallons daily. The water flow would circle the globe near the equator, a train at 60 mph requiring over four days to traverse.
