A whim broke at the Gilsonite mine near Arago mortally injuring Rube Taylor. He was struck in the head and suffered a broken leg and dislocated ankle. He died at the camp after the Grand Junction physician arrived. His father T Taylor is gravely ill and may be overwhelmed by the news.

Body of Emil Meyer Found in Green River Near Brush Creek
The drowned youth Emil Meyer was recovered about ten o clock Wednesday one mile above Brush creek mouth by Geo Langston and his son while two men fishing. Vincent believes the body floated to the east bank after Tuesday’s wind and lodged in bushes. The remains were buried in Jens en cemetery with Sam Wood of the 29th Infantry present to ensure a vigil.

Meuse ranch leads dry land wheat trial in Silver Queen
Dave Thompson from the Meuse ranch introduced a dry land Silver Queen variety in Utah Salt Lake counties. He sowed one bushel on an acre last fall, faced late planting and a storm, yet the crop emerged well this spring. Thompson expects about 60 bushels per acre from three quarters of an acre ruined by alkali, with one head yielding 112 grains.
