LDS Vernal Chapels Prebid Conference Sets August Bid
A prebid conference for the Vernal First Fifth and Ninth Wards LDS chapel drew contractors architects and ward leaders. Bid opening is scheduled for August 16 at 1 pm for a 19000 square foot facility to be built at 2nd West and 214 North with 21 teaching stations a 380 seat chapel and multiple support rooms.

Lightning Fire Contained On Boulevard Ridge Near Vernal
A lightning caused blaze on Boulevard Ridge, 80 miles south of Vernal, was contained after burning 300 acres of brush and timber. Sixty firefighters plus water trucks and helicopters fought the fire. mop up continues with demobilization planned for Monday night as three more fires in Gray Basin and Seep Ridge are reported nearby.

Thieves Grab $1700 In Tools At Uintah High Wood Shop
Uintah High School wood shop theft over the weekend netted $1700 in tools. Custodian Clive Caldwell reported the break to Vernal City Police Monday morning. Officers say entry was gained by kicking in a wood panel and cutting a wire mesh wall to reach stored tools including hammers planes saws drills and an air compressor. Police are pursuing leads and have lifted fingerprints as part of Vernal Police investigation.
