Funeral Services Held at Naples For Roy Cook

Funeral services for Roy Cook were held Sunday at the Naples chapel under the direction of Arthur Harrison. Speakers included Archie Johnson LaVell Maness and others. A mixed quartet and soloists performed hymns. pallbearers were six brothers. Interment followed at Vernal Memorial Park with local funeral home directing.

Uintah County War Bond Drive Totals Revealed

Uintah County shows strong war bond support with totals across banks schools and stores. Principal John Farre announces students and teachers bought 150000 dollars in stamps and bonds in March and April. The American Legion Auxiliary reports 900 dollars in bonds and 387 in stamps sold at local outlets. The Bank of Vernal notes 3000 dollars in bond sales for April while the Post Office reports 1375. Uintah State Bank records 18775 dollars in war bonds sold in April.

Massey Qualifies As Aerial Gunner At Harlingen School

Garth Massey, son of Mr and Mrs John N Massey, recently graduated from Harlingen Army Gunnery School in Texas and earned the silver gunner’s wings plus a promotion to sergeant. He joins the Army Air Forces bombardier defense corps as a sharpshooter and trained to service and assemble guns from BB to 50 caliber Browning, part of the comprehensive Harlingen program.

Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt Scheduled on Courthouse Lawn

The Lions Club will sponsor an Easter egg hunt on courthouse grounds this Saturday April 24 open to all Um tah County children under twelve. Apostle Bowen to Speak at Sunday Conference

Apostle Bowen of Salt Lake City will headline the Quarterly Conference with Elder Albert EL Bowen of the Council of the Twelve as a special visitor. Activities occur at the seminary at 8:30 am, general sessions at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, priesthood meeting at 11:30 am, and a noon graduation is noted with a performance by the Singing Mothers.

U S Agrees To Pay Top Wool Price For 1942 Clip

The Utah Wool Marketing Association will handle government purchases of wool at the full selling price, the maximum allowed by the Commodity Credit Corporation. Sylvester Freshbent, UWMA president, said after a Chicago conference that the 1942 wool clip would be bought by the Department of Agriculture through the CGC at the legal maximum price. Gusher Contributes Big to Red Cross Drive

S R Bennion born June 10 1884 in Taylorsville Utah son of Samuel R Bennion and Agnes Thompson Bennion. He moved to Ashley Valley in 1887 and lived there until a few years ago.
