Yanks and Pirates Set to Lead Leagues With Reservations
A reader’s pick projects the Yankees, Red Sox, and Tigers as the American League top trio, with the Pirates, Cubs, and Cardinals leading the National League. Key reasons include Lefty Gomez’s return to form, Lou Gehrig’s power, and strong outfield with Powell, DiMaggio, and Selkirk. The Pirates win NL honors if Cy Blanton regains form. Cardinals face internal issues centered on Dizzy Dean, while Giants lose Bossu Terry’s onslaught.
