City Council Approves Water Line Plan and Staffing
City council in Ghehs Glines approved interlaying one mile of water pipe from Jim Acking corner south to Rickson corner then east to Theodore Johnson corner to serve Glines properties with cost sharing among eight owners. Naples line will connect at Johnson corner. Mayor B Stringham presided. The council also hired Mrs Henry Schaefermeyer as receptionist and office clerk starting May 1 due to increased workload.

Livestock Show Committees Named Wednesday

Five Soldier Escapees Pass Through Vernal Area
Five soldiers who escaped to Fort Douglas moved through Vernal late Saturday into Sunday, pursued by Sheriff J R Preece. They bought five gallons of gas at Duchesne and again at a Sinclair in Vernal, then headed east. Only two were in the staff car when gas was bought. the sheriff believes all five remained in the party. The car with all five was seen near Elk Springs Sunday morning, with an Army captain and sergeant continuing the pursuit Monday.

Democrats named seven delegates and three alternates to attend the state convention in Salt Lake City June 6. H E Seeley was named president of the Uintah County Cattle Growers Association at the annual meeting held at the county courthouse.
