Father of UHS Instructor Buried at Nephi Sunday
Funeral services for Ira Manova Petty 47 longtime Nephi civic leader and father of Miss LaVere Petty instructor at UHS were held at the Jacob Stake Tabernacle. Petty died Friday at LDS Hospital after a lingering illness. He was born Feb 18 1888 at Deseret son of Albert and Josephine Black Petty and is survived by his mother widow and many children and siblings including LaVere Petty Cleo Petty Wanda Petty Elaine and Maxine Petty.

The Vernal City Fire Department answered two calls Sunday to extinguish fires in nearby houses. One blaze at Charles Henderson’s home started in a chicken coop, while the other at Mrs Oxcer Collett’s house began under a kitchen range. Both fires caused damage but no injuries.
