Wyandot Remnant Holds Council in Anterdon Township

The Wyandot remnant in Anterdon Township across the river in Canada held a council at Peter White’s lodge. Indian Agent R Mackenzie of Sarnia distributed the half yearly Government allowance of 1750 to 76 members. The council discussed surrender of the rear part of their reservation and Turtle Island. they agreed to consider, but not now, as petitions for enfranchisement and land surrender are pending. Turtle Island was surrendered to be sold for best advantage.
