In Van Wert next Tuesday John W. Brown and Arthur Kreischer headline a five contest slate for congress and county offices. Republicans Sethd A. O. Giga Roy McGowen Noah Poling Elmer Kerns Dr E H Alspaugh and Dr J R Jarvis seek county coroner with a three way primary. Voter turnout is expected near 4000 versus over 7000 two years ago, with a five year primary voting record to follow.

Prison stabber slain after rampage at San Quentin yard

Franke Dagne, 26, a seven-year inmate from Santa Barbara, stabbed 15 prisoners in the recreation yard before being shot by guard Charles C. Rexford. Dagne stabbed himself with a wire weapon and was killed as inmates scattered. 15 injured attackers in stable condition.

Believed aviator sets new nonstop record

In Columbus a small monoplane piloted by Bob Buck of Westfield New Jersey skimmed in with landing gear down and is believed to have set a new nonstop flight record. The trip took 17 hours 50 minutes covering about 2300 miles. Instruments will be sent to Washington for National Aeronautical Association verification. A stop was made here due to a leaky oil line.
