Sale of Marion Bluffton Eastern Traction Company

The Marion Bluffton and Eastern Traction Co with $450000 minimum was sold last week for 8454,569 by Union Savings and Trust Co as receiver to a committee including J Wood Wilson Hugh Dougherty and L A Williamson. The deal preserves Bluffton as the likely main offices and may retain local stockholders. The company, wrecked in July 1912, has been under the receiver’s care with L Davenport leading the Trust Co’s management.

Jacksonville man helps land 11 foot shark

Mr W K Fraizer and Mrs Fraizer in Jacksonville Florida aided landing an 11 foot 1200 pound shark. He sent a photo of the catch and jaws to his daughter Lena McDougle. The jaws span 13 inches and are on display at the McDougie store.

Sled races thrill crowd on South First Street

Three horses entered by Harry Green Walter Maddox and Emmett Hamilton drew a large crowd last Thursday afternoon. John Corey photographed the event with an Eastman Kodak. Maddox’s sleigh struck a buggy causing a shaft break and race delay. Emmett Hamilton won the race. time not given.

Creamery Opens and Delivers 250 Pounds Butter Daily

The Van Buren Creamery operated by Conrad and Creath started up on Saturday and produced about 250 pounds of high grade butter. A ready market was found for the day’s output, and Conrad notes they can dispose of their product easily. The plant is clean and well scrubbed, earning praise from Dr. Daughtrey who first tasted a pound as superfine.

Cassius M Palmer of Wells county Indiana dies after illness at age noted farmer owning 136 acres of land. Stricken February 9 1914 he passed February 17 at 12 30 pm. Funeral at Farrville church conducted by Rev J C Eason with burial at Vana Bu ren cemetery.
