July 1 will be observed as Patriotic Sunday in American Sunday schools with an offering to the Red Cross for war relief. President Wilson backs the plan and a Van Buren Methodist Sunday school will host a patriotic program with Red Cross membership drives and a closing address by Rev. J. O Campbell.

Obituary for Fred T. Drake Elks Knight Templar
Fred T. Drake of Marion formerly Rochest er Indiana died aged forty three. A University of Michigan graduate he married Lillian Saxon and left a son Samuel who died in infancy and two daughters Mary and Martha. He fed the hungry aided the distressed and educated orphans and was mourned as a kind friend and gentleman. Funeral rites conducted by Frazee and J O Campbell with Masonic lodge at the cemetery.

Children’s Day Exercises Held at M. I. Church
A Sunday night program at the M. I. church drew a crowd that filled the seating. The exercises opened with America sung by the audience, led by Rev. J. O. Campbell’s invocation. Children trained by Lenore Toney Gladys Higgins and Mrs Trace Deaper performed as Mrs. E. S. Howard accompanied at the piano. Applause greeted each selection.
