Roundup adventures at Dewey fairground Oklahoma

Ochelata July 19 1921 Dear Editor I describe a Dewey round up trip with Mr Marphew Corda Harvey and family. The event included steer lassoing bronco riding bulldogging and a prize fight. Remarks recall the dangerous bulldogging and a steer horn mishap then a 16 round bout at the fairground.

Recreational Society Formed by Local Church

At a Sunday meeting Rev. Ernest E. Lutes proposed a recreational society for social and physical well being of church members. The Sunday School already fields a baseball team and Herald Plummer will lead a basketball squad for the coming season. Plans may include tennis croquet volleyball and more, aiming to guide youths toward proper church and community relations.

Fornshell Buys Building for Central Church of Christ

L. C. Fornshell has purchased the blacksmith shop building of the Central Church of Christ. The rear end was torn down and the rest converted into a garage to be moved to the rear of the Fornshell lot. Excavation for the basement of the new church building will start soon with completion expected next spring.

At the Peters property corner now occupied by Perry Butler a maple tree stands planted by John F. Swan on July 4 1876 to mark the nation’s centennial. Mr Harlan Beck recalls Swan’s lifelong interest in planting trees.

Salvation Army Band Misses Detroit Concert

A large Bluffton crowd faced disappointment as most of the Salvation Army Band of Detroit failed to arrive en route to Van Buren. About a dozen members reached Bluffton after a delay, with talks by party members and a brief inspiring concert. TheDetroit band's stop raised over twenty five dollars in collection.

Boxell Family Reunion Set for August 26 at Matter Park
