28th Annual Gathering of Farmers to Be Held in Van Buren
The Farmers Institute of Van Buren township announces its 28th annual meeting at the opera house on January 27 and 28, 1916. President John L Cambrio promises an excellent two day program with high school participation on Friday and a full slate of speakers including Mrs Mabel Curry Rev J O Campbell and Otis Crane.

A Sunday night fire destroyed School No 3 in Monroe township southwest of the city. The new brick structure cost 83,600 with 82,700 of insurance. Trustee Albert Ballinger is investigating whether the brick walls can be reused in a pew building. Orance A. King was the teacher.

Farm Couple Tragedy Ends in Suicide Near Van Buren
Lewis Barnes a farmer near Van Buren shot himself at home after threatening to kill himself while intoxicated. His wife and young daughter fled as the gun discharged, death instantaneous with the left ear destroyed. Funeral services were held at the family home and burial followed at Corey cemetery.

Dillman Revival Attracts Converts And Additions
Rev E O Brown of the C B church led a revival that produced 33 conversions and nine additions by midweek. A daily 6 o clock prayer meeting drew interest, and last Sunday's crowd was large with strong results. Further services are planned for the rest of the week with expectations of more good.
