State President to Open Farmers Institute Session
The Farmers Institute for Van Buren Township will hold a one day session on Friday January 6 1922. Noted speakers include Mr R A Ogg of Greencastle Indiana and Mrs Elizabeth T Stanley of Liberty Indiana. Mrs Stanley a farm resident and state president of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union will discuss Vocational Training in the Public Schools and Making the World Safe for Humanity. Mr Ogg operates a 160 acre Green County farm and a 14 acre orchard and will speak on Green Matures and later on Some Things My Failures Have Taught Me.

John P Andring Dies After Illness in Van Buren Home
John P Andring a Van Buren resident for two years died at his South Main Street home Tuesday evening after a long kidney illness. He was about 60, born in Luxembourg and survived by a widow and thirteen children. The funeral arrangements list services at a local church followed by interment in Canton.

Rare Musical Treaty by University Trio at Central Church
The University Trio of Taylor University will perform at Central Church of Christ on Friday evening December 30 under Crescent Sunday School class. Admission is 20 cents for children and 35 cents for adults. The trio, noted for chautauqua and lyceum work, offers classical and modern music with vocal solos, duets, trios, marimbaphone and piano pieces, and readings.

Oldest Township Resident William Leverich Dies in Indiana
William Leverich born September 12 1832 in Morgan county Ohio died December 24 1921 at his granddaughter’s home in Grant county Indiana aged 30 years 3 months and 12 days. He traveled from Ohio to Indiana in 1848 with his family and settled in Van Buren township. He married Philinda Balsley on October 10 1858 and had six children. Funeral services were held December 28 at the Farrville Church with burial in Farrville cemetery.

Obituary of Daniel Kouitz Pulley of Van Buren Township
Daniel Kouitz Pulley born January 19 1840 in Grant county near Antioch Church Van Buren Township died December 23 1921 at his daughter Lavina Keltner home near Van Buren aged 81 years 11 months and 5 days. He spent life near his birth place married Emily Knight April 18 1861 and raised three children Leroy Willard Salathiel and Lavina on a series of farms before settling in Van Buren after his wife’s death. Surviving are two children Salathiel and Lavina eight grandchildren six great grandchildren and five half brothers with one sister and three half sisters deceased. He joined the Methodist Protestant Church at Antioch in 1861 62 and remained active a faithful life praised for Christian principles. Funeral at Church of Christ East Main St conducted by Rev M F Iliff burial in Van Buren cemetery.

Insurance man Miller in chain of bad checks affidavit filed
Dean Paxton a local druggist filed an affidavit in Marion against Jack Miller life insurance agent. Miller is accused of writing checks without funds across Van Buren Upland Gay City and Gas City to cover prior checks. Authorities say the chain worked until Miller failed to honor the checks and left the area.
