Hog Kill Horror at Landesville Ends in Barnyard Fire

Frank Vanness and helpers killed a giant hog near Landesville after a violent possibly 2000 pound animal, kept in a barn for three months, resisted shots. They used a gun built from a gas pipe and brick, sparked a blaze drawing a fire crew, while Charley Welsh survived a fall and later led the hog’s butchering to a muddy cleanup and bawdry. Meanwhile local notices report sick relatives, a death in North Marion, and Christmas wishes as Protracted church work begins early next month.
