Arrangements are ready for Baby Bond pledges at every county school on Friday afternoon June 28. Meetings begin at two o clock with heads of families present to pledge bonds via local banks, post offices, or Baby Bond stations. District 79 reports full pledges and others over the top, with instructions for residents owning property in multiple districts to pledge in each district according to local valuations.
Oliver Wendell Johnson, born October 19 1895 near Hartford, died June 14 1918 in Unionville at age 22 years 7 months 26 days after a seven week illness. Survived by mother Mrs W M Wilson three brothers and two half brothers. Funeral at Christian church conducted by Rev J Roy Wright with Unionville cemetery burial. Seven Putnam county men named George Rogers Thomas Campbell Roy I C Lewis Robert William Channell Earl R Jones Oscar Pickering and Jee Brundage prepare to leave for Camp Pike Arkansas by freight Monday morning. Private Oliver R Leonard Marine Corps was severely wounded in action June 8 in France with no further details available.
