Private H K Norwood to Speak Saturday in Livezey Hall
Private H K Norwood an American who served 22 months with the British army will speak in Livezey Hall at three o clock Saturday afternoon. He will be accompanied by Evangelist Gocale of St Louis and the event is under Salva Rooray auspices with approval from the President War Department and Councils of Defense. Norwood recounts front line service in Passchendaele Messines Aras Somme and the Dardanelles and notes being wounded sixteen times and enduring No Man’s Land hardship.

City Council Hikes Lights and Water Rates
At Friday night’s meeting the City Council discussed raising funds for city works and agreed to raise light rates from 12 to 15 cents per 100 kilowatts and water minimums from 50 cents to one dollar per month. The plant will operate with one fewer worker and power outages will run from midnight to 5 am. Rising operating costs have left the city a few hundred dollars behind on bills, but officials expect self sufficiency with the higher rates and cost cuts.
Ice Cream Social to Aid Soldier Boys at Mt Hope Church
The Mt Hope church community 6 miles southeast of Powersville hosts an ice cream social Friday night in the church yard Mt Home 21. Proceeds go to Red Cross donations for Paice update while neighbors donate ice cream and support the soldier boys.
