Free blood pressure screenings to aid early detection

Union Township life squads, in partnership with the American Heart Association, will offer monthly free blood pressure screenings at the West Chester firehouse on Cincinnati-Dayton Road. Liberty Township Cadet Fire and Life Squad Seeks Youth Help

Liberty Township invites youths 15 and older to join a cadet training program for fire or life squad duty. Contact assistant fire chief Gene Vance at 777-2320 for information. Cadets will attend special training and participate in nonhazardous functions before any exposure to real firefighting activities.

Matson's Fruit Farm A Century of Family Farming in Monroe

Lois Cockerham profiles Robert and Lena Matson and their long running fruit farm on Lebanon Road. Married in 1918 the couple built a diverse operation with apples grapes pumpkins and honey while serving in Farm Bureau and Grange circles. The Matsons employed year round and seasonal workers and still supply Monroe with apples and other produce as they approach 50 years on the same site.
