Thunderbird students hear Rep. Kindness discuss tax reform and energy policy

U.S. Rep. Thomas N. Kindness spoke to Lakota High School social studies students urging contact with legislators. He advocated a broad tax overhaul with a fixed gross-income percentage, energy tax incentives, reduced federal spending, and a balanced budget. He noted that revenues rise when taxes fall and joked about his staff typing skills.

Union Township Minutes Highlight Trick or Treat and Park Plans

Union Township trustees moved through routine items and an executive session on police personnel issues. They set trick or treat for Oct 31 from 5 to 7 pm and discussed sharing communications with Lemon Fairfield and Trenton townships, Koehner Park funding and potential water tapping, a brush burning permit for future fields, weed mowing and road work updates, and PTA Membership Enrollment Month. The Life Squad received praise for September activity including 65 runs and multiple incident responses, while fire volunteers logged significant property losses and calls across various categories.

Crowds Form for Union Two Swine Flu Shots

A line formed at Union Township Firehouse No. 1 well before the 9 a.m. start for swine flu shots. Despite no incentive of World Series tickets, residents gathered early on Cincinnati-Dayton Road, with a crowd building 45 minutes beforehand.

Kim Muse and Doyle Carpenter were named Lakota's Homecoming King and Queen at halftime during the Lakota versus Franklin game. Food and candidates spotlight Oct 22 fet

The South Eastern Butler County Republican Women’s Club hosts an American Heritage Family Dinner and Meet the Candidates night on October 22 at Union Elementary School from 5 to 8 pm. Republican and judicial hopefuls attend while a home cooked dinner and a film are offered with ticket prices of 3 dollars for adults and 1.50 for children under 12.

Liberty Township trustees set Trick or Treat night for October 30 from 5 30 to 7 30 p m at their October 11 meeting. Fire chief Henry Taylor announced the firemen’s association fish fry raised 600 dollars to buy more equipment.

Haunted House Fundraiser Sponsored by Liberty Firefighters

Liberty Firefighters sponsor a Haunted House the week of Halloween October 25 to 31. Admission is 1.50 for adults and 0.75 for children under 12. Located at Ohio 4 and Ohio 747, hours 7 to 10 weekdays and 7 to midnight Friday to Sunday. The event features 18 acts, 45 monsters, and a fire department spokesperson promises one of the best haunts.
